Police in Gloucestershire warn they will be stepping up their action to catch offenders by increasing patrols during the school run.

A total of 50 cars were stopped on Wednesday in the county - although a police spokesman said most drivers were behaving "responsibly".

Pc Darren Rosewell said people caught speeding or driving without seatbelts could also face fixed penalty notices, points on their licences or prosecution.

"With the start of the new school term and the associated increase in traffic, this is the perfect time to reinforce to drivers the importance of road safety," he said.
