In pictures: Kashmir pilgrimage attack
India has accused a militant group based in Pakistan of killing nine Hindu pilgrims in an attack on the camp near the resort town of Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Pilgrims have been streaming towards the Amarnath shrine in the foothills of the Himalayas
Even in peace-time, it is a trecherous journey
The gunmen attacked while pilgrims were sleeping
Nine pilgrims were killed and dozens were injured in the attack
Senior officials came to visit the wounded in hospital
Despite heavy security, militants still appear able to launch attacks at will
