Quartet wants 'immediate ceasefire'

The Quartet's Middle East envoy Tony Blair says an immediate ceasefire is needed in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking after a meeting with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah Mr Blair also stressed the importance of getting humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

The former British prime minister is the special Middle East envoy for the Quartet of powers which includes, Russia, the EU, the UN and the United States.
