Claims that politicians do not realise how serious HIV and Aids infection rates are in Jersey have been called "irresponsible scaremongering".
A report by Aids Care Education and Training (ACET) said there was a lack of knowledge and support from politicians in curbing infection rates.
The charity wants to see new ways of monitoring the number of people affected by the disease.
However, the States said it was doing all it could to stop the spread.
ACET said the island was at risk from an increase of workers coming from eastern Europe and Africa.
However, Senator Stuart Syvret, president of the Health Committee, said this was speculation not based on scientific facts.
