New incinerator site is proposed
A Jersey politician is calling to have the island's new waste incinerator built on reclaimed land.

St Helier Deputy Ben Fox says La Collette would be a better location than the island's current incinerator site at Bellozanne.

He said that although it would be more expensive in the short-term, La Collette was further away from any homes and had good access for vehicles.

His amendment will be considered in the States at its meeting on 5 July.

The incinerator at Bellozanne must be replaced by 2008.
