Hedge funds boost island deposits
More money is being held in bank accounts in Jersey, despite a continued fall in the number of banks, as hedge funds continue to increase.

The latest quarterly report from the Jersey Financial Services Commission says £162bn is held here, a rise of £7bn compared with this time last year.

But the money has been spread around fewer banks.

Forty eight are registered with the finance regulator compared with 77 six years ago.
