A senator has refused Jersey States' demands to take down comments made on his websites about the head of the island's financial regulator.
Senator Ted Vibert's websites have comments on them about the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) director general David Carse.
But, following a meeting of the States Assembly, he said he will not comply.
Members could now bring forward a number of measures including a vote of censure, suspension or even expulsion.
'Useless' debate
States members voted on Tuesday to formally ask him to remove the comments and those about deputy Helen Hatton.
But Mr Vibert, who walked out of the meeting, called it a "useless" debate.
He said: "I take this opportunity to flag to the Assembly that I will be lodging a proposition calling for a full public inquiry into the activities of the JFSC, which are largely uncontrolled by the States."
The States says the comments on his websites are damaging the finance industry. Mr Vibert denies this.
