Unspent taxes 'not up for grabs'
Jersey States says it has saved over £15m of taxpayers' money which had been earmarked for unforeseen circumstances.

The money is in the General Reserve, a fund that is used by the States to pay for unforeseen eventualities like a disaster or a civil emergency.

Last year £10.4m was spent from the fund, leaving a £15.2m balance.

The finance and economics committee said despite the surplus it will still only honour requests for truly urgent and unexpected requirements.
