Politician wants split workload
A Jersey politician wants the States to split the Environment and Public Services committee in two.

Deputy Gerard Baudain says the current committee is overburdened with work.

He wants a return to a former system where one committee deals with environment and planning issues and another with the bus service and roads.

Some politicians are against any change and say the proposal would disrupt efforts to bring forward strategies on transport and waste disposal.

The two committees were originally merged in December 2002 as part of the island's move towards a ministerial style government.
