Customs and immigration in merger
Jersey's customs and immigration services have been merged to form one department to carry out their work.

The departments had been working more closely together in recent months since just one civil servant was appointed to lead them.

The two have merged to save money and it is also hoped the move will strengthen their power to enforce different laws.

They will also be in a position to share resources more effectively.
