Superheroes to take to the pews
St John's Parish Church
The Rev Andy Thewlis says congregations are up by 50%
Parishioners at a Jersey church are being encouraged to dress as superheroes at this week's service.

It is part of a new series of services at St John's parish church to encourage more parishioners to attend.

The idea is the brainchild of the Reverend Andy Thewlis, who says congregation numbers are up by 50%.

He says the later services are especially popular, particularly the 1100 service which has the Children's Sunday Club.

Since January, Rev Thewlis has had a different theme each month for the 1100 service.

Youngsters at the parish primary school have been trying to guess costume their rector will wear and are predicting he will come as Mr Incredible.
