Members of Jersey's Portuguese community are being invited to celebrate their national day in the island on Friday.
Friday is Portugal Day, also known as Dia de Camoes, after an important Portuguese poet.
Town Constable Simon Crowcroft will be hosting a party at the Town Hall.
According to the last census there are more than 5,000 people with Portuguese or Madeiran backgrounds or ancestry living in the island.
The Constable says the day is especially important for the large numbers of Portuguese and Madeiran people who live away from their homeland.
