Unions and politicians have reached some agreement over plans for the future of Jersey's manual workers.
The day before a planned demonstration in the Royal Square, Policy and Resources and the TGWU have compromised over one aspect causing disagreement.
The union ruled it could not work with the States in its plans to cut jobs.
They feared, after a five-year deal ran out, the parishes would be able to allocate work to the lowest bidder, putting union members' work at risk.
Tax plans
An agreement has now been reached so if that happened, the decisions could be examined by a States scrutiny panel.
The civil servant in charge of manpower, Mick Pinel, said it was a satisfactory arrangement for both sides.
But the move will not affect the planned demonstration on Tuesday which will take place before the States sitting.
