States debate tax break proposals
New plans to give extra tax breaks to parents of children in further education could cost Jersey taxpayers £250,000 a year.

Deputy Bob Hill wants a £5,000 allowance to be given to parents with children over 17 who are living at home while in further education.

The Treasury says it could mean a tax loss of £250,000 a year at a time when the States is trying to cut costs.

The matter will be debated by the States on Wednesday.
