Jersey should 'keep its UK links'
Jersey should not lose its links with the British Crown, according to a book looking at the island's constitution.

The book, Jersey: Independent Dependency?, looks at the island's independence and government.

The book's author, Dr Luke Le Rendu, says Jersey needs the support of the Crown and could not sustain its security on its own.

Jersey is one of three Crown dependencies, with Britain providing defence and foreign representation.

The book also looks at political and economic influences, in particular the European Union, and its attitude to offshore finance centres.

Dr Le Rendu has been researching how Jersey has maintained its independence and how it operates within it.
