Teachers at a Jersey primary school are looking to improve safety for pupils travelling to and from school.
A group which aims to make school routes safer is going to work with the staff at St Martin's Primary School to set up a new initiative.
The Safer Route to School Working Group was set up by the States to try to cut down the number of cars making trips to and from school.
It aims to improve conditions for those who walk, bike or use public transport.
As part of a new scheme, St Martin's Primary School is being asked to come up with a travel plan for reducing the number of car trips made to school and for improving safety on the school journey.
Staff, pupils and parents will work on the plan and submit it to the group for consideration.
Five schools were initially considered but the group chose St Martin's as the first to start off the pilot project.
