People who live and work in Jersey's Stopford Road are being assured a parking scheme near their homes is not about to end.
Speaking in the States, Senator Philip Ozouf said he hoped to see parking schemes all across town.
Town Deputy Geoff Southern wants to lower the proposed cost of the parking scheme at Stopford Road to no more than £260 a year.
Environment and Public Services had mooted a £600 charge.
Deputy Southern asked Senator Ozouf in the States on Tuesday what will happen when the scheme expires on 4 May.
Senator Ozouf said:" What I can say today is that the residential and business parking scheme is a permanent scheme and is not due to expire as inferred by the Deputy."
