Dairy returns to profit
Jersey milk cartons
The company has changed its name to Jersey Dairy
Jersey Dairy says it is now making a profit after losses of over £1m last year.

The group has announced profits after tax for the six months to the end of November of £221,000.

Managers at the Jersey Dairy say the news is encouraging despite what they describe as "challenging trading conditions".

Last year the company changed its name from Jersey Milk to Jersey Dairy in an attempt to modernise and improve its profits.

Managers introduced a business plan to try and reverse its fortunes after the company posted losses of £1.4m and about 20% of its workforce was made redundant.

The company has now cut operating costs by 14% and the price per litre paid to farmers has increased by 1.6 pence to 29.6 pence.

Chairman of Jersey Dairy Andrew le Gallais says more still needs to be done to improve the company's performance.
