Police in Jersey are getting training in collecting DNA from crime scenes.
Two UK forensic experts are on the island giving advice to 200 States of Jersey Police officers.
Jersey's police force first starting taking DNA samples from crime scenes five years ago.
And last year it started taking mouth swabs from people arrested for burglary, car crime, drugs and sexual offences.
In 2003 65 samples from Jersey were added to the two million profiles on the national DNA database.
Over the past fortnight, two UK forensic experts have been training officers in Jersey in how to identify sources of DNA, collect and preserve it and avoid contamination.
