Park for skateboarders
A skateboarding park will be provided for young people in the Jersey parish of St Brelade despite concerns about its cost.

Parish authorities are hoping to raise enough to set up the park on the playing fields at Les Quennevais, but original estimates of cost were too high.

The original plans would have cost around £200,000, but the parish hopes to reduce that cost significantly.

It has obtained planning permission to build the park on the playing fields, but will need to provide security lighting and fences, as well as resolve insurance issues.

Work on a BMX course at Les Creux, where a patch of land near the Scout hut will be cleared, is due to start once planning permission is given.

It is expected to cost between £4,000 and £5,000.
