Metal recycling is solid success
A metal recycling scheme in a Guernsey parish has proved so successful it is being repeated for a third weekend.

Last weekend residents of the western parishes filled four skips outside Forest school with their unwanted metal objects.

The Forest Douzaine set up the scheme as part of a drive to reduce pressure on Guernsey's landfill site.

Local douzaineer Bob Bartlett believes there is scope for the scheme to become island-wide.

Organisers have stressed it is not to be used for large items such as washing machines and cookers.
