Harbourmaster urges quay revamp
Alderney's harbourmaster believes £4m proposals to renovate the Commecial Quay are essential to the future prosperity of the island.

The quay is where cargo ships, bringing in supplies, dock and is a vital lifeline for the island.

But harbourmaster Steve Shaw says it is being rapidly corroded, and the growing size of cargo vessels means it will be redundant in a few years' time.

Alderney's States will discuss the renovation of the quay next week.

Alderney will also be looking to Guernsey help foot the bill.
