Developers to buy Commerce House
Plans to sell one of the most familiar buildings on Guernsey's waterfront have been revealed.

Channel Island Traders is to acquire Commerce House in St Peter Port later this year.

In its latest trading statement, the company says it intends to buy the building on Les Banques for £6m.

It is part of an ongoing expansion at the Admiral Park site where a development of 80 seafront homes is already under way.

Profits rise

Earlier this week, CI Traders sold the Generali building in Hirzel Street for £12m - a profit of more than £1m.

Overall, the group's operating profits are more than 10% up on last year.

The trading statement also promises to maximise the recent purchase of Jersey and Guernsey's branches of the supermarket Safeway.

The company blamed the States and the media for shoppers boycotting the store after a row over competition laws.
