Politicians reject salary plans
General view of Alderney
Alderney's politicians may get increased allowances
Politicians in Alderney have rejected the idea of an annual salary.

At a meeting on Wednesday night to discuss pay States members considered a Green Paper by Debbie Burgess recommending a £6,000 regular salary.

It was being considered as a method of attracting new people into politics and improving accountability.

Instead, members favoured increasing attendance allowances. The Policy and Finance Committee will reply to the paper in due course.

If the salary plan is approved, it could cost taxpayers an extra £20,000 a year.
