Plans to tackle overcrowding and lack of facilities in Guernsey schools are a step closer to being implemented.
The Education Department has submitted detailed applications to build a sixth form centre and redevelop the College of Further Education.
The States gave the green light to make a start on both projects at its meeting in February.
Building work is due to start this summer with the new sixth form centre being ready for occupation in 2005.
The College of Further Education's new and improved facilities on the St Peter Port site are still in the early design stages.
Education Minister Deputy Martin Ozanne says many of the College's courses are currently being taught in temporary buildings.
