250 turn out to question hopefuls
Ballot box
The elections take place on 21 April
More than 250 people turned out for the first hustings ahead of Guernsey's General Election.

Organisers were overwhelmed by the interest from parishioners in the West, who have been amalgamated for the first time in history.

Voters in St Saviour's, St Peter's, Torteval and the Forest quizzed the 11 candidates at La Houguette School on Tuesday evening.

Issues raised included taxation, healthcare and States expenditure.

The next meeting will be in the Vale on Thursday.

Meetings in Castel and St Sampson's will be held on 14 April and St Peter Port North and the South East on 15 April.

The final meeting, for St Peter Port South, will take place on 16 April.
