Deputy Roger Berry said facilities were not only comfortable, but safer, and measures in place at the building were up to international safety standards.

The £19m terminal was open to the public over the weekend and will be fully operational by 19 April.

Thousands of people turned up to see the new terminal over the weekend during two open days.
