Guernsey Post is dealing with record levels of mail
|
Guernsey Post says it has learnt from past mistakes and is coping well in the run-up to Christmas.
The company was severely criticised in a report from the Office of Utility Regulation when mail was severely delayed last Christmas.
The delays were blamed on a number of factors - including a change in premises, the introduction of new sorting equipment and a change in working practices.
Despite dealing with record levels of post this Christmas, company operations director Joe Domican says everything is running very smoothly.
Mr Domican said: "Christmas this year has gone according to plan."
The company delivered its 2,000,000th piece of mail for the month on Tuesday.
Mr Domican added: "The most significant thing was to make use of the automated system that was put in last year.
"We have had to get it work working properly, get staff trained up to use it and to use changes in the way we work to take advantage of the investment.
"It has, so far, run absolutely perfectly."
