Jersey Telecoms' turnover went up by 6% in 2002
The sale of mobile phones helped a Jersey company make a significant profit last year.

Jersey Telecoms achieved operating profits of almost £16m, thanks to more people using mobiles and internet services.

In the company's annual report, executive director Bob Lawrence said business "exceeded forecasts" in 2002, and profits rose by £800,000.

In its report, Jersey Telecoms said it was a very successful year for the company.

Its turnover went up by 6% to almost £70m.

The main growth area was the sale of mobile phones and computer users switching to broadband, which provides a faster way of connecting to the internet.
