The Alderney lifeboat was involved in the search

A five-hour search for a diver missing in deep waters north east of Alderney has been called off.
The diver was diving on a wreck in the channel when the alarm was raised at about 1300 BST.
It is believed the diver failed to surface after taking part in the deep-sea excursion.
The Alderney lifeboat the Roy Barker and the Channel Island Air Search were called out.
Cross-channel ferry Commodore Clipper also joined in the search, which was co-ordinated by French coastguards.
Alderney's Harbourmaster, Steve Shaw, said the search has now been called off and the lifeboat has returned to Alderney.
