In pictures: French strike
France has been hit by a mass walk-out of public sector workers. Flights have been cancelled as the air-controllers went on strike, and railway employees, bus drivers and postal and telecommunications staff have joined the protest.

Unions are angry at government moves towards privatisation, pension reforms and spending cuts.
