In pictures: Pope's Mass for millions
Pope John Paul II received a rapturous welcome from more than two million people in Krakow's Blonia Park, where he celebrated an open-air Mass.
The Mass, seen as the emotional highlight to what many people believe is his farewell visit to Poland, was one of the biggest ever gatherings of Polish Catholics.
The Pope was greeted by the younger generation of Poles
Polish Catholics are worried about social divisions and moral decay
The Mass required an enormous amount of preparation
Some people stayed the night to get a good view
The Mass was attended by around 5% of Poland's population
The Pope was said to be revitalised by his return to Poland
This was his sixth Mass at Blonia
