China's execution creates diplomatic tension

China's decision to ignore Britain's calls for clemency and execute Akmal Shaikh for drug smuggling has strained relations between the two countries.

The Foreign Office minister Ivan Lewis called China's actions "totally unacceptable", saying it had failed in its basic human rights responsibilities.
