Taiwan details China referendum
Taiwan's President Chen Shui-bian has outlined his plans for a referendum he wants to hold on 20 March alongside presidential elections.

Mr Chen said it would ask voters whether Taiwan should increase its defences if China refused to redeploy hundreds of missiles pointed at Taiwan.

People would also be asked if they wanted peaceful, stable ties with the mainland.

The referendum plan has infuriated China, which fears its implications.
