Obama lauds CIA's 'important role'

US President Barack Obama has praised the CIA for the 'critically important role' it plays in fighting terrorism.

Mr Obama visited the Langley headquarters in a bid to reassure staff after releasing memos last week which detailed harsh interrogation techniques which critics say are torture.
