The Jamaican justice minister has rejected calls for the government to repeal legislation outlawing homosexuality on the island.

K D Knight said the law was based on a moral imperative, which had not changed.

Last week a new group, the Jamaica forum for Lesbians, All-sexuals and Gays, was set up to promote the rights of homosexuals in Jamaica, and to press the authorities to change the current legislation.
