The Wales and Neath-Swansea Ospreys rugby player Brent Cockbain is mourning the loss of his 13-month-old son.

Toby Cockbain died on Friday night at the family home in Cardiff after losing his fight against a brain tumour.

The illness was diagnosed three months ago and Toby underwent surgery to remove the tumour.

The funeral will be held in Cardiff on Thursday.

Australia-born lock Cockbain, 29, joined Pontypridd from London Irish four years ago and qualified for Wales on residency grounds.

He was in the Wales squad which took part in the Rugby World Cup last year.

He joined the Ospreys in May following the demise of the regional rugby team Celtic Warriors.

His teammates wore black armbands at their match with Cardiff Blues on Saturday evening.
