Players at a Welsh rugby club have joined the bid to stamp racism out of sport.

The squad of Bonymaen RFC is one of a number of sporting sides in south Wales that has signed up to the Sport Against Racism campaign, supported by South Wales Police.

Moveable advertising hoardings have been supplied to the club by the police and the Swansea City Council, which can be taken down and transported to other grounds.

Assistant Chief Constable Dave Francis said the aim of the scheme was to get rugby and sports fans switched on to the issue of combatting racism.

"We hope to raise awareness among people about what they can do to fight racism and encourage them to report any racist incidents they encounter whether it is at a sporting event or not."

Football clubs across the UK have been at the forefront of the campaign to prevent racism on the terraces
