Are you still dreaming of a white Christmas?

Well, it looks like you're going to be disappointed this year - at least if you live in Wales.

The only snow you'll see will be on your Christmas cards perched on the mantlepiece!

Over the last few days there has been a sort of Christmassy feel to the weather.

It has been cold with plenty of crisp winter sunshine by day, but with clear skies at night temperatures have tumbled, falling as low as 5 Celsius in places resulting in sharp frosts and icy roads.

However, you can put your de-icer away for a while.

The high pressure that brought the frost and sunshine this week has now moved away into the continent and low pressure in the Atlantic is beginning to take control.

A succession of weather fronts are forecast to move northeast across Wales over the weekend and during Christmas as well.

These fronts will bring spells of rain and showers.

Some of the rain heavy will at times be accompanied by strong to gale force winds.

It will also turn milder as the wind swings more into the south and southwest.

Daytime temperatures in many places during the week should be in the range 8 to 11 Celsius, which is above the seasonal average.

So if like me you have put a few quid on a white Christmas, the signs are the bookies won't be paying out this year, with drops of rain more likely than snow flakes!
