Business boost for tourist town
Llandudno
A number of people work in the tourist trade
Work is due to begin on a £1m business development in Llandudno which will support local businesses and bring new jobs to the region.

Mostyn Estates is making the investment in the town to create eight new business units.

The existing buildings are dilapidated and have come to the end of their days

The development covers the old dairy and storage buildings on Builder Street in the town.

The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) is investing more than £300,000 in the project.

Peter Caldwell, managing director of Mostyn Estates, said: "The existing buildings are dilapidated and have come to the end of their days.

"We are looking to replace them with a quality and lasting development."

Employment

The aim of the initiative is to diversify the business base in Llandudno away from tourism.

The majority of people who work in the seaside resort are employed in the tourist industry.

Chris Farrow, WDA executive director, said: "This is an important development for Llandudno.

"It will transform an existing dilapidated site, bringing new economic and employment opportunities to the area."

The business units, named Cwrt Roger Mostyn will be dedicated to the memory of the fifth Baron who died in June 2000.

He was very much involved in the early planning of the project.
