Counselling for blaze pair's school friends
Storage building, leisure centre, Colwyn Bay
The blaze gutted the storage building
Friends of two teenagers who died in a fire at a local authority storage building in north Wales have been receiving counselling at their school.

Kirsty Burvill, 13, and her boyfriend of two months, 15-year-old Daniel Cleverley, were pupils at Ysgol Bryn Elian in Colwyn Bay.

The pair were in the council-owned storage shed in Eirias Park last Tuesday when a fire

broke out and they were overcome by toxic fumes.

North Wales Police have arrested and bailed an 11-year-old boy on suspicion of arson.

The 900 pupils at Ysgol Bryn Elian have been trying to get back to normal following the half-term break while remembering two of their fellow students.

As youngsters returned from the holiday the school flag was flown at half-mast and pupils left flowers and messages for their friends.

Counsellors from the local education authority joined teachers at the school to listen to pupils' concerns.

Conwy's LEA said it is vital to give young people

the time to talk about the friends they have lost.

Those who knew Kirsty and Daniel brought photographs to school to remember happier times.

A two-minute silence in their memory will be observed at the school on Tuesday.
