Cameron, Brown and Clegg cast their votes

Manor houses, school halls and even a shipping container were all turned into polling stations.

Across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland more than 40 million people have registered to vote.

The leaders of the main Westminster parties set an example and were out early to make their mark.
