UK First said it hoped to win further backing at the next Westminster election

The UK First Party gained 74,007 votes in the European Parliament election.

Chairman Bruce Lawson is a former treasurer of UKIP who left after disagreements with UKIP's leadership.

He said UK First, which is also against UK EU membership, was concentrating on building its profile so it could make future gains at Westminster.

Their best result was in the East of England where the ex-One Man and His Dog presenter Robin Page helped the party to win 2.4% of the ballot.

During the campaign Mr Lawson told the BBC that he hoped the party could win as many as 130,000 votes.
