Straw denies leadership bids

Justice Secretary Jack Straw has defended Chancellor Alistair Darling and Prime Minister Gordon Brown as they face renewed criticism over the UK's economic crisis.

Mr Straw backed the Chancellor over his recent comments in the a newspaper about the state of the UK's economy, and dismissed suggestions of a leadership challenge to Gordon Brown.

Speaking to Emily Maitlis on the Andrew Marr Show, Mr Straw said the pair were the most "experienced pilots" to lead the country through turbulent times.
