Outrage over abandoned puppies
The pups are recovering at an RSPCA shelter
Ten puppies have been rescued after being found abandoned on a motorway bridge.
Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) workers have condemned the person who left the dogs to die. The animals were discovered in a distressed state, by a passing motorist near Bolsover, Derbyshire. They are now being cared for in an RSPCA shelter at Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
Workers for the charity believe the terrier-collie crossbreds were not wanted and were left to their fate. Julie Ward, a local branch manager for the RSPCA, attacked the person who left them. "I think they are cruel and callous and there is really no need for it. "All they have to do is give us a call, give the local vet a call and we will take them in," she said. The dogs were found by motorist Nick Hope on a bridge over the M1. Puppies 'shivering' "I was just pulling off to the motorway bridge and I just looked down and noticed them. "They were cold and wet and shivering," he said. The puppies have been given the names of talk show hosts including "Oprah" and "Kilroy". They will be offered up for adoption later this month. |
