A woman being held on remand in a Scottish prison has allegedly been physically and sexually assaulted by a group of nine women.
The alleged attack happened the day after the 34-year-old woman arrived in Cornton Vale Prison, near Stirling.
Police report
The assault is alleged to have happened at Scotland's only all-women jail on 12 June.
Central Scotland Police said nine women, aged 21 to 41, were the
subject of a report to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesman for Scottish Prison Service said the attack occurred in Ross House, the jail's remand block.
