Simulations that 'learn' to move

University of Leipzig scientists have developed simulations of animals and humans which 'learn' how to move.

The computers are told how limbs move but not how to use them.

At first the simulated characters are motionless but after some time they work out how to move their limbs, and even carry out back flips.
