The union claims staff had no option but to go on strike

About 200 staff at countryside clothing firm J Barbour & Sons have voted in favour of a 24-hour strike over wages.
Workers at their Galashiels and South Shields factories unanimously agreed to take action on Friday.
The T&G union had sought a 4% increase but had indicated it would accept 3%. The company has offered 2.8%.
Union organisers said further industrial action could not be ruled out but a Barbour spokeswoman said going on strike benefited nobody.
She said the firm remained committed to finding a solution but pointed out that the union had refused an offer of arbitration.
