FirstGroup had pledged a modest 2% reduction in delays per year

Delays on train services have been cut by almost a third, according to the Scottish rail franchise's operator.
First ScotRail said that in August only 8.5% of services had been affected by delays caused by the operator.
However, it still lags behind figures for the mid-1990s, when reliability was sometimes more than 95%.
Consumer watchdog Passenger Focus welcomed the improvement, but said passengers remained concerned by ticket prices and a lack of car parking.
The watchdog criticised a recent fares restructuring which limits the availability of some saver tickets.
It also said a lack of space in station car parks continued to cause concern.
