United Biscuits makes McVitie's products
A man has appeared in court in connection with an alleged plot to poison products at a biscuit factory.

John McCulloch has been accused of threatening to sabotage the United Biscuits factory in Tollcross, Glasgow.

The 48-year-old, of Burntbroom Gardens, Mount Vernon, in the city, was charged with a breach of the peace when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody pending further enquiries, court officials said.

It has been alleged that Mr McCulloch sent letters to the factory warning that products would be contaminated

The factory employs about 750 staff and manufactures McVitie's products.
